Spanish-speaking engineering for Oxfam

Project Types: Employment Market Research

Client: Oxfam

Oxfam urgently needed Spanish-speaking public health engineers to work with the organisation in South America – a very specific request which demanded a targeted approach, working to a limited budget and a tight timeframe.

Over a two-week period, we conducted telephone, internet and desk-based research to establish the relevant postgraduate courses in public health and water management, and the potential availability of Spanish-speaking students at the relevant institutions in the UK and internationally. The exercise involved depth conversations with people at professional bodies and institutions including CIWEM, WiTEC, ICE, Ecologic, WEMS, World Federation of Engineering, UKRC and Balance, generating valuable findings that informed the media and communications strategy subsequently implemented.
